On proved vs proven
In both British and American English, proved is more popular, but proven is catching up (unusual for an irregular form to become more frequent).
The gap is much bigger in British English.

Whoops - both powers have to be greater than one.
(16 = 2^4 and 17 = 17^1 work when this isn't true)
